Our HEN PICKED Chicks box includes 10 day-old chicks selected from our landrace and heritage breeding program. This is not a perfectly balanced assortment or a guaranteed variety pack. It is a real, working-flock mix based on what is hatching and thriving at the time.
You will get a flock that looks different, acts different, and holds up better than the average backyard mix.
Each order may include chicks from any of the following breeds:
Swedish Flower Hen
A hardy, adaptable landrace known for friendly behavior and wide feather variation. Lays around 130 to 150 off-white to light brown eggs per year.
Hedemora
Built for cold climates with dense feathering and a calm temperament. Lays around 150 off-white to beige eggs annually. Often broody and dependable mothers.
Swedish Black Hen (Svarthöna)
A rare all-black landrace with striking pigmentation. Lays around 100 to 150 small to medium eggs. Alert, intelligent, and highly aware.
Shetland Hen
A small, resilient landrace with strong survival traits. Known for variable egg color including tinted, blue, or green. Active and well-suited for free-range environments.
Icelandic
A highly adaptable landrace that thrives in a wide range of climates. Lays a steady supply of white to cream eggs and is known for broodiness and strong mothering instincts.
Ölandsk Dwarf
Small, efficient, and full of attitude. Excellent foragers with high broodiness and strong survival instincts packed into a tiny body.
You may receive any combination of these breeds. That could mean a mix of several breeds, multiples of a few, or even all chicks from a single breed depending on the hatch.

We do not guarantee specific breeds, ratios, or feather types.
If you want to choose your breeds, this is not the right option.
If you want a hardy, well-rounded flock and are open to a little unpredictability, you are in the right place.
Shipped at One Day Old
Chicks are shipped at one day old. At this stage, they are still absorbing nutrients from their yolk sac, which allows them to safely travel during the first 48 to 72 hours after hatch.
Straight Run Only
Chicks are sold unsexed, so you will find out who is who as they grow.
Minimum Order of 6 Chicks
This product includes 10 chicks and meets minimum order requirements.
Express Shipping (Read This Part)
Chicks ship on Monday or Tuesday via USPS Priority Express, the fastest option available, but delivery is not guaranteed overnight.
Most shipments take 2 to 3 days in transit depending on USPS routing and handling.
We pack every shipment with:
• 72-hour heat packs when needed for temperature safety
• Gro-gel for hydration and nutritional support during travel
Chicks are prepared to travel within this window, but delays can happen. Please only order if you are comfortable with this shipping timeline.
Flat rate shipping: $85
We do not ship to Hawaii at this time.
Local Pick-Up Option
Local pick-up is available at an off-site location on the advertised ship date.
Extra Chicks When Available
When possible, we include bonus chicks. Sometimes that may mean an extra from another breed. If you have preferences, leave us a note at checkout.

Our flock meets National Poultry Improvement Plan standards under participant number 31-1508 (Tina Hines).

Virtual Farm Connection
We do not offer public farm visits, but we are happy to share photos, updates, and support so you feel connected to your flock’s origin.
We begin preparing your hatch as soon as your order is confirmed. That includes reserving incubator space and scheduling your hatch.
Cancellations made more than 3 weeks before your scheduled ship date will receive a full refund.
Cancellations within 3 weeks of your scheduled ship date are subject to a $10 non-refundable prep fee, as resources have already been committed to your hatch.
We are not a factory farm. Every chick matters. Thank you for supporting responsible, small-scale breeding.

We participate in the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP), meaning our breeding birds are tested and monitored under state and federal disease-control standards. We take biosecurity seriously—because healthy chicks start long before hatch day.
