Shetland Hen

Shetland Hens come with one of those histories that makes you start digging and suddenly realize you've lost two hours.

They're a rare landrace from Scotland's Shetland Islands, known for their varied plumage, distinctive tufted or “tappit” birds, and blue-green eggs. Their surviving history is complicated, and even the breed information we've collected notes that reliable published material is limited.

Rare, weird, and still carrying a few unanswered questions.

Yeah. Those are our kind of chickens.
