Set height to bird backs: raise on bricks/blocks so the lip sits at the back height of your smallest birds—this reduces billing/spill.
Allow enough elbow room: as a guideline, plan ~2" of feeder space per chick and ~4" per adult during peak feeding times.
Keep it dry: place in a covered area; wet feed molds fast and attracts pests.
