Support for Hatchers

We are happy to assist both first-time hatchers and experienced breeders with tips and guidance. While we take great care in packaging, hatch rates can vary due to shipping conditions, and we’re here to help with any questions you may have.

Disclaimer: Please be aware that while Cluck It All Farms takes every precaution to ensure the highest quality of our hatching eggs, several factors can impact the hatch rate and development of embryos. These include incubation practices, handling during shipment, and the environment in which eggs are incubated. While our eggs have a 90% hatch rate under controlled farm conditions, variations can occur during transit such as detached air cells, which may affect the hatchability. We are committed to transparency and quality but cannot guarantee specific outcomes once eggs leave our farm. For best results, we recommend following our detailed hatching guide and contacting us for any queries or support needed throughout your hatching journey.

By purchasing our hatching eggs or chicks you agree to our Hatching Eggs and Chicks Terms of Service Policy.

Didn’t work so great for me

I really wanted to order chicks but they are currently doing local pick up only and I am in CA. So I order 12 hatching eggs and they sent 14 which I was super excited to have a couple extra just in case. I know hatching rates with shipped eggs averages at about 50% so I was hoping to get at least 6 chicks. By lock down day I had 5 eggs. 1 hatched all by itself and is super healthy. I had to assist 2 with hatching one died and the other is still alive after 2 days but not too sure if it’ll make it, it’s kinda weak and has a crooked beak. One died in the egg after piping and the other never hatched so I inspected further and the skull never developed, you could see the chicks brain. This was my first time ordering shipped eggs and I know there are a ton of different scenarios that can happen after the eggs are shipped off and out of the sellers control. The eggs were packaged well and all arrived in 1 piece. Just didn’t work out too well for me. However the 2 chicks are beautiful and I can’t wait to see what they turn out to look like! Once they start shipping chicks again, I’ll just go that route instead.

First off, thank you for the honest review—seriously. Shipping hatching eggs is like sending a wish in a bubble through a tornado: beautiful when it works, heartbreaking when it doesn’t. We're bummed this hatch didn’t go as planned, but we’re also really grateful you saw the good with the not-so-good.

A few things we want to lovingly (but sassily) point out for folks reading along:

A 40–50% hatch rate on shipped eggs is sadly the industry average, not because anyone’s cutting corners, but because air cells can detach, embryos can quit mid-way, or—yes—even skulls may not form correctly. That’s shipping trauma, not genetics. And it’s exactly why we focus on preservation: because landrace breeds fight through this chaos better than most.

Crooked beaks can happen for a ton of reasons—incubation humidity swings, genetic flukes, or hatch trauma. We’re watching this closely in our lines, but again… shipped eggs don’t always give us the full picture.

We love that you’re open to trying chicks in the future, and we can’t wait to ship some peepers your way when we're able. In the meantime, we hope your little survivors grow up bold, weird, and wonderful—just like the rest of us chicken keepers.

Raising chickens isn’t for the faint of heart—but it is for the ones who don’t quit after a rough hatch. You're our kind of people.

I ordered 2 dozen eggs and they were beautiful. Unfortunately, I lost all of them in Hurricane Ian when we lost power. I got in touch and they were willing to offer a discount for me in spring. Wonderful family running this. Thank you.
