Miller Little Giant Galvanized Reel Top Range Feeder

Choose a Length

Chickens have a special talent for looking at anything remotely perch-shaped and thinking, “I should sit on that.”

Unfortunately, sometimes that thing is their feeder.

The Miller Little Giant Galvanized Reel Top Range Feeder has a free-spinning reel across the top that makes perching considerably less appealing while still giving your flock easy access to the feed below.

They can eat there.

They just can't comfortably move in.

Dinner Is Down Here

This long galvanized steel trough gives multiple birds room to eat along both sides, making it a practical choice when you're feeding more than a couple of hungry chickens at once.

The free-spinning reel runs across the top of the feeder and turns when a chicken tries to perch on it.

It's not personal.

The feeder just doesn't want anybody's butt over dinner.

The reel snaps in and out for easier filling and cleaning, while rolled edges provide a smoother finished edge around the feeder.

Choose Your Size

The Galvanized Reel Top Range Feeder is available in two lengths so you can choose the amount of feeding space that makes sense for your setup.

  • 36.25 inches long x 6.5 inches wide x 6.75 inches high
  • 48.25 inches long x 6.5 inches wide x 6.75 inches high

For larger flocks, multiple feeding stations may help provide better access when several birds want to eat at the same time.

Because apparently everyone is starving.

Always.

How to Use

Place the feeder on a stable, level surface where your chickens can comfortably reach the feed.

Keep it in a dry, protected location whenever possible. Positioning feed away from waterers can also help prevent splashed water from getting into the trough and creating a soggy mess.

Remove the snap-in reel when needed for filling or cleaning, then make sure it's securely reinstalled and spinning freely before putting the feeder back into use.

Check feed regularly and discard anything that becomes wet, moldy, contaminated, or otherwise questionable.

Cleaning & Care

Empty old feed and debris as needed. Clean the trough with mild soap and water, rinse thoroughly, and allow it to dry completely before adding fresh feed.

Regularly inspect the galvanized steel, rolled edges, and reel. Make sure the reel continues to spin freely and discontinue use if the feeder develops damage that could injure a bird.

The chickens may be disappointed that you've eliminated another perfectly good place to sit.

They'll find something else.

They always do.
