The Chicken Treat Ball Toy holds small, dry treats inside and drops a few pieces as your flock pecks, nudges, and rolls it around. Instead of dumping everything into one convenient pile, you've created a tiny chicken snack puzzle.

Make Them Work for It

Fill the ball with small treats that fit easily through the opening, set it down on a relatively flat surface, and give it a little roll so your flock can see what happens.

Once the first snack falls out, somebody usually starts putting the pieces together.

Or pecking the ball aggressively until good things happen.

Either way, we're counting it.

The 1/2 x 3/4-inch opening works well with appropriately sized dry treats like mealworms, black soldier fly larvae, small grains, or pellets.

How to Use

Add a small amount of dry treats or appropriately sized feed to the ball. Avoid wet foods, mash, powders, or anything likely to clog the opening.

Place it on a reasonably flat, dry surface where it can roll freely. If your chickens have never used a dispensing toy before, roll it yourself to release a couple of pieces.

Then let them figure it out.

Check the ball regularly for cracks or damage and remove it if it becomes damaged. Hand wash with mild soap and warm water, rinse thoroughly, and allow it to dry completely before refilling.

If you're filling it with treats rather than your flock's regular feed, remember that treats should make up no more than 10% of their total diet. Complete, balanced poultry feed does the heavy lifting, with fresh water always available.

Eventually they'll learn that moving the ball makes snacks appear.
