Used once

Bought on brand new from my local farm supply store. Used one time, cleaned put away on a shelf. Next spring pull it off the shelf and the top unit does not work. The unit in the lid is entirely dead. It was wonderful for the first run, but only lasted one run.

I am sorry that you had issues with your incubator. If you had purchased it with us, we could have helped you out. Unforutnately you will need to contact the store you purchased it from to check their warranty policy.

So disappointed

I bought the incubator and one dozen eggs from this farm trusting things to go well. I kept the incubator at 99.5-100.4 at all times for 18 days with the auto egg turner on, then turned it up to 102.4 and removed auto turner. Waited.. waited only two hatched and both those had the splayed legs unable to walk. My girls were so disappointed. We had been watching so faithfully and carefully keeping track of the temp and everything. All eggs were duds but two. Ive got bandaids on the babies legs and they are coming along nicely but so much for hatching a little flock.

Regarding the temperature, maintaining a steady 99.5-100.4°F during the initial incubation period is spot on, but raising it to 102.4°F towards the end is slightly higher than recommended. Ideally, it should stay around 100.5°F. Even a brief rise above 103°F can be risky, potentially affecting the embryos inside. This is why we always recommend using a secondary thermometer/hygrometer inside your incubator. The built-in displays can sometimes be off, which might lead to misleading temperature or humidity readings.

Also, it's quite tricky to determine if an egg was viable to begin with once incubation has started, as the early developmental signs can be subtle.
