Safe-Guard® AquaSol is an FDA-approved fenbendazole dewormer administered through drinking water for the treatment and control of specific intestinal worms in chickens. It's approved for backyard flocks, including laying hens, and when used according to the label, there is no required withdrawal period for eggs or meat.

No trying to translate directions written for a 1,200-pound cow into something appropriate for a six-pound hen.

Fenbendazole Dewormer Made for Chickens

Safe-Guard® AquaSol contains 200 mg/mL fenbendazole, an antiparasitic in the benzimidazole class.

For chickens, it is labeled for the treatment and control of adult Ascaridia galli, commonly called large roundworms. It is also labeled for adult Heterakis gallinarum, or cecal worms, in breeding chickens and laying hens.

And because it's administered through drinking water, treatment can be provided to the flock without individually catching and dosing every chicken.

Which is excellent news for anyone who has ever tried to catch the same suspicious hen five days in a row.

How to Use Safe-Guard® AquaSol for Chickens

For chickens, the labeled daily dose is 1 mg fenbendazole per kg of body weight, equivalent to 0.454 mg/lb, administered for 5 consecutive days.

The amount of AquaSol required is calculated from the total estimated body weight of the chickens being treated. Follow the current package directions carefully when calculating and preparing the medicated drinking water.

During treatment, chickens must have sole and unrestricted access to the medicated water until it has been consumed. Afterward, provide unrestricted access to regular drinking water. Prepared medicated water should be used within 24 hours.

Accurate dosing matters with dewormers. Don't eyeball it, don't make the solution stronger because it feels more effective, and don't start routinely deworming the flock just because the bottle is sitting in the chicken medicine cabinet.

When you're unsure whether worms are actually the problem, a fecal examination and help from a poultry-savvy veterinarian can save everybody a lot of guessing.

No Egg Withdrawal When Used as Labeled

Storage & Safety

Store at room temperature at or below 86°F. Once opened, do not store above 77°F and use the product within 6 months. Do not freeze.

Keep out of reach of children. Wear protective gloves when handling the product and avoid skin and eye exposure or accidental ingestion.
