Apparently chickens need a snack piñata.
The Hanging Chicken Treat Ball turns leftover greens and veggies into something your flock has to actually work at instead of demolishing in one pile on the ground. Stuff the 4-inch wire ball with lettuce, cabbage, carrot pieces, or other flock-friendly produce, hang it at pecking height, and let them have at it.
Every peck makes the ball move a little, which means the next bite isn't always sitting exactly where they left it.
Dinner and a tiny challenge. Not bad for a ball full of lettuce.
The wire design holds larger pieces of produce while giving curious beaks plenty of places to grab a bite. A 5.5-inch chain and hook make it easy to hang in the coop or run, keeping treats up off the ground while your flock pecks away.
Try it with:
Switch up what you put inside depending on what you've got in the kitchen and what your flock goes nuts for.
Open the ball, add appropriately sized pieces of chicken-safe produce, close it securely, and hang it where your flock can comfortably reach it. Larger, firmer pieces may take a little more work to pull through the openings.
Rinse after use and allow it to dry completely before refilling.
Like all treats, this is the fun stuff, not dinner. Treats should make up no more than 10% of your flock's diet, with a complete, balanced poultry feed doing the heavy lifting and fresh water always available.
