A Rare Swedish Treasure – Petite, Hardy, and Full of Personality

The Ölandsk Dwarf is a rare landrace breed from Sweden’s small island of Öland, known for its compact size, lively nature, and unique plumage patterns. These energetic, curious birds are a joy to watch and interact with, making them a wonderful addition to homesteads, small flocks, and conservation breeding programs.

Breed Characteristics

• Country of Origin: Sweden – A landrace breed with deep Nordic roots.
• Size: Hens ~1.5 lbs, Roosters ~2 lbs – One of the smallest heritage breeds.
• Egg Production: ~130 small, creamy-white eggs per year.
• Personality: Lively, curious, and friendly—fun to watch and easy to love.
• Broodiness: Occasionally broody, with excellent mothering instincts.
• Climate Adaptation: Thrives in cooler climates but adapts well with proper care.

Chick Ordering & Shipping Details

• Shipped at One Day Old – Our chicks are shipped unvaccinated and ready to grow in their new home.
• Straight Run Only – Chicks are sold unsexed, so you’ll enjoy the surprise of discovering their genders as they mature.
• Minimum Order of 6 Chicks – Build your flock with at least six chicks, or mix and match breeds to create a diverse, personalized brood.
• Safe, Express Shipping – Chicks ship on Tuesdays via USPS Priority Express at a flat rate of $75, ensuring they arrive quickly and safely.
• Local Pick-Up Option – Pick up your chicks in person at our designated off-site location on the advertised ship date.

• Extra Chicks When Available – We love sharing the joy of hatching! When possible, we include extra chicks in shipments.
• NPIP-Certified & A/I Clean – Our flock meets National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) standards under participant #31-1508 (Tina Hines).
• Virtual Farm Connection – While we do not offer public farm visits, we share photos, video chats, and personalized customer support to help you feel connected to your chicks’ origins.

Before You Order:

We start preparing your hatch as soon as your order is confirmed. That means reserving incubator space and putting your hatch on the schedule.

If you cancel more than 3 weeks before your scheduled ship date, there’s no fee and we’ll issue a full refund.

If you cancel within 3 weeks of your scheduled ship date, a $10 non-refundable prep fee will apply. At that point, your eggs have likely already been set, and we’ve invested time and resources into your hatch.

We’re not a factory farm and every chick matters. Thanks for understanding and helping us do this the right way.
