With their strong foraging instincts, unique feather patterns, and extreme cold-hardiness, these birds are a fantastic choice for homesteaders, conservation breeders, and free-range setups. Recognized as threatened by the Livestock Conservancy, adding Icelandics to your flock helps preserve a piece of poultry history.
Bred by Viking settlers and shaped by Iceland’s harsh landscapes, these birds are natural survivors, making them one of the toughest breeds available. Their vibrant genetic diversity means no two Icelandic chickens look exactly alike, creating a beautifully varied flock.

We start preparing your hatch as soon as your order is confirmed. That means reserving incubator space and putting your hatch on the schedule.
If you cancel more than 3 weeks before your scheduled ship date, there’s no fee and we’ll issue a full refund.
If you cancel within 3 weeks of your scheduled ship date, a $10 non-refundable prep fee will apply. At that point, your eggs have likely already been set, and we’ve invested time and resources into your hatch.
We’re not a factory farm and every chick matters. Thanks for understanding and helping us do this the right way.

We participate in the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP), meaning our breeding birds are tested and monitored under state and federal disease-control standards. We take biosecurity seriously—because healthy chicks start long before hatch day.
