Breed Characteristics

• Country of Origin: Sweden – A historic cold-hardy breed.
• Size: Hens ~4 lbs, Roosters ~5 lbs – A sturdy, medium-sized bird.
• Egg Production: 150-200 creamy white to beige eggs per year, sometimes speckled.
• Personality: Calm, friendly, and adaptable—great for both free-ranging and confined spaces.
• Broodiness: Often broody and known for being excellent mothers.
• Climate Adaptability: Thrives in cold environments, but may struggle in high heat.

Chick Ordering & Shipping Details

• Shipped at One Day Old – Chicks are shipped unvaccinated and ready to grow in their new home.
• Straight Run Only – Chicks are sold unsexed, adding an element of surprise as they mature.
• Minimum Order of 6 Chicks – Start your flock with at least six chicks, or mix and match breeds for variety.
• Safe, Express Shipping – Chicks ship on Tuesdays via USPS Priority Express at a flat rate of $75, ensuring swift and secure delivery.
• Shipping Restrictions – We ship within the U.S. only. Due to Avian Influenza (AI) regulations, some states may not allow poultry imports from Ohio (OH). If restrictions apply, we will cancel your order and issue a full refund. Please check your state’s regulations before purchasing.
• Local Pick-Up Option – Pick up your chicks in person at our designated off-site location on the advertised ship date.

Before You Order:

We start preparing your hatch as soon as your order is confirmed. That means reserving incubator space and putting your hatch on the schedule.

If you cancel more than 3 weeks before your scheduled ship date, there’s no fee and we’ll issue a full refund.

If you cancel within 3 weeks of your scheduled ship date, a $10 non-refundable prep fee will apply. At that point, your eggs have likely already been set, and we’ve invested time and resources into your hatch.

We’re not a factory farm and every chick matters. Thanks for understanding and helping us do this the right way.
