We do not offer refunds or replacements for poor hatch rates. Shipping Protection is required for a one-time replacement.

HEN PICKED Hatching Eggs are one dozen fertile chicken hatching eggs selected from our landrace breeding flocks based on what's laying and available when we pack your order. You might receive eggs from several breeds. You might get multiples from a few. One particularly productive flock might decide to take over the whole damn box.
We don't manufacture an assortment just to make every carton look evenly mixed. The chickens aren't terribly interested in providing that kind of customer service.
You give up control over the breed assortment, put the eggs in the incubator, and see what happens.
Your HEN PICKED eggs may come from any of these six breeding flocks:
A Swedish landrace known for its tremendous variety of colors and patterns, often with the characteristic white-tipped feathers that give the breed its “flowered” appearance. Swedish Flowers are curious, active birds, and some may also be crested.
And yes, “Hen” is part of the English breed name. Eggs can hatch males or females.
A Swedish landrace from the area around Hedemora with a long history in a cold climate. These compact chickens can vary considerably in color, pattern, and even feather type, including both smooth and wooly-feathered birds.
Also known as Bohuslän-Dal Svarthöna, this rare Swedish landrace is known for extensive dark pigmentation. Our flock can produce smooth and wooly-feathered offspring, and some birds may show additional color rather than being completely black.
Again, “Hen” is part of the English breed name. It isn't a promise about what's inside the egg.
A landrace from the Shetland Islands of Scotland with natural variation in appearance and some interesting possibilities for future egg baskets. Females may eventually lay blue, green, or tinted eggs, but we cannot predict the future egg color of an individual chick.
And because apparently chickens enjoy making naming conventions unnecessarily confusing, “Hen” is part of this breed's name too. Your eggs can hatch males or females.
An old Icelandic landrace traditionally associated with the country's settlement era. Icelandics are active foragers and can vary tremendously in color, pattern, comb type, and other characteristics. Some may also be crested.
Basically, Icelandics never got the memo that everybody in a breed is supposed to look related.
A tiny Swedish landrace from the island of Öland. Ölandsk Dwarfs are active little chickens with naturally variable plumage and plenty of personality packed into a very small bird.
Clancy, our rooster and Cluck It All Farms mascot, is an Ölandsk Dwarf.

You'll receive one dozen fertile chicken hatching eggs selected from the breeding flocks listed above.
HEN PICKED does not guarantee that all six breeds will be represented, an equal number from each breed, or any particular combination. Your dozen is based on what our hens are laying and what is available when your order is packed.
We also cannot guarantee chick color, feather type, crest, future egg color, sex, or sex ratio.
If there's one particular breed you absolutely have to hatch, order that breed's hatching eggs instead.
HEN PICKED is for the person who can open an incubator on hatch day and say, “Well. Let's see what we've got.”
We sell fertile hatching eggs from our breeding flocks, but fertility and hatch rate are not the same thing, and we cannot guarantee that every egg will develop or hatch.
Once eggs are shipped, there are a whole lot of things neither you nor I can control. Handling in transit, temperature exposure, delays, egg condition, incubation temperature and humidity, turning, incubator performance, and plain old biology can all affect the outcome.
That's part of hatching shipped eggs.
If you need a guaranteed number of live chicks, shipped hatching eggs aren't the way to get there. If you enjoy incubation and understand that every hatch comes with some uncertainty, that's exactly what these are for.

We pack hatching eggs carefully for travel, but careful packing cannot control what happens to a box once it enters a carrier's system. Shipping hatching eggs always involves risk, even when the outside of the box looks perfectly fine when it arrives.
HEN PICKED eggs aren't leftovers from the individual breed listings or a separate breeding program. They come from the same landrace breeding flocks we use for our breed-specific hatching eggs and chicks.
The only thing you're handing over is the breed selection.
We're maintaining populations where natural variation matters, so we aren't trying to turn these birds into rows of identical chickens. We pay attention to healthy reproduction, appropriate breed characteristics, functional birds, and maintaining the diversity within the populations we're working with.
Our flock participates in the National Poultry Improvement Plan and is A/I Clean under participant #31-1508, Tina Hines. The birds shown in our photos are our actual birds.
Our farm isn't open for public visits, but we're happy to share flock photos and updates so you can see the chickens behind your eggs.
Sometimes we have enough eggs available to tuck a few extras into the box.
If we do, congratulations. The hens have increased your assortment without consulting either of us.
Extra eggs aren't guaranteed, and just like the original dozen, the breed selection depends on what's available.
Once your order is confirmed, we reserve incubator and breeding schedule space for your order. Cancellations made more than three weeks before the scheduled ship date receive a full refund.
Cancellations within three weeks of the scheduled ship date are subject to a $10 non-refundable preparation fee because we've already committed resources to your order.

We participate in the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP), meaning our breeding birds are tested and monitored under state and federal disease-control standards. We take biosecurity seriously—because healthy chicks start long before hatch day.
