Bring a piece of Sweden’s heritage to your homestead with Ölandsk Dwarf chickens—a rare landrace breed admired for its striking plumage, lively personality, and hardiness in cooler climates. Whether you’re a dedicated conservation breeder or simply love unique, small-sized chickens, these birds make a charming and valuable addition to any flock.

Breed Characteristics

  • Country of Origin: Sweden – A historic landrace from Öland Island.
  • Size: Hens ~1.5 lbs, Roosters ~2 lbs – Compact yet resilient.
  • Egg Production: Around 130 small, creamy-white eggs per year.
  • Personality: Energetic, curious, and friendly—an engaging, active breed.
  • Broodiness: Occasionally broody, but attentive mothers when they hatch chicks.
  • Climate Adaptation: Cold-hardy and well-suited for northern climates.

What You’ll Receive

Your hatching eggs come directly from our well-maintained breeding flock, ensuring strong genetics and a beautiful mix of chick colors. Photos showcase our actual birds, so you can get a glimpse of the vibrant variety you may hatch.

Ordering & Shipping Details

  • Choose Your Shipping Week – We ship Mondays through Wednesdays for the freshest eggs.
  • Expertly Packed for Safe Arrival – Each egg is individually wrapped in tissue, placed in a protective carton, and cushioned with biodegradable packing materials, OR packed with a foam egg shipper and double boxed.
  • Tracked & Insured Shipping – Delivered via USPS Priority or Express with tracking. A $15 shipping surcharge applies due to USPS policy updates.  Please leave a note at checkout if you need your package held at the post office for pick up.  We do not ship to Hawaii at this time.

  • NPIP-Certified & A/I Clean – High health standards maintained under NPIP (Participant #31-1508, Tina Hines).
  • Virtual & Local Engagement – While we don’t offer public farm visits, we share flock updates via photos, video calls, and designated off-site pick-ups for local buyers.

We participate in the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP), meaning our breeding birds are tested and monitored under state and federal disease-control standards. We take biosecurity seriously—because healthy chicks start long before hatch day.
