Hentastic discontinued the Jumbo Chicken Treat this hanging feeder was originally designed to hold, so we're clearing out the feeders we have left.

Instead of tossing a perfectly good feeder aside because its matching treat disappeared, you can get a little creative with what goes inside it.

Make Your Own Treat Block

This feeder was designed to hold one large Hentastic Jumbo Treat, but you can make your own chicken-safe suet-style treat block to use in its place.

Look for homemade chicken treat recipes using ingredients appropriate for your flock, then shape the mixture to fit securely inside the feeder. Depending on the recipe, using the feeder itself as a guide while shaping your treat may make getting the size right easier.

The goal is simple: make something firm enough to stay put while your chickens peck pieces from it.

You can also experiment with appropriately sized chicken-safe foods that fit securely in the holder.

As always, treats are extras. A complete, balanced poultry feed should make up the majority of your flock's diet.

How to Use

Place a properly sized treat or homemade treat block securely into the feeder.

Hang it where your chickens can comfortably reach it and watch them the first time you introduce it to make sure the treat stays secure and the setup is working safely.

Remove leftover fresh food before it spoils.

Care & Cleaning

Wash with mild soap and warm water after use. Rinse thoroughly and allow the feeder to dry completely before adding another treat.
