Grab the exact gear you need, or get a CluckKit™ and let us do the thinking—either way, your flock wins.

Because mediocre gear doesn't survive the coop—or Clancy.

The Chicken Chick® Hen Mating Saddle™

Feather breakage, bald patches, overzealous roosters—handled. Designed by Kathy Shea Mormino (The Chicken Chick®), this lightweight duck-cloth saddle shields backs, shoulders, and wing tops without cramping a lady’s style.

Who It’s For

Keepers with an enthusiastic roo, molting hens that need cover, or feather-pickers who can’t mind their business.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Max coverage: Extra-wide cut protects back, shoulders, and wing tops.

  • Tough + comfy: Sturdy duck cloth that lies light and moves with the bird.

  • Camo chic: Looks sharp and softens outlines outdoors.

  • Reinforced build: Quality stitching + double snaps keep the fit secure, wash after wash.

  • Easy clean: Toss it in the washer, then the dryer—done.

Specs

  • Material: durable duck cloth (lightweight feel, heavy-duty performance)

  • Closure: double-snap system for quick on/off and reliable fit

  • Finish: camo print with reinforced seams

  • Fit: sized for standard hens; sits flat over shoulders and along the back

How to Use

  1. Calm the hen (treats help).

  2. Slide wings through openings so the saddle rests over shoulders and back.

  3. Snap both closures snug—not tight—so feathers and skin aren’t pinched.

  4. Check daily for rubbing; adjust or give a rest day if needed. Use until feathers regrow and skin is covered.

Care

Machine wash cold, gentle cycle. Tumble dry low or line dry. Do not bleach. Inspect snaps and seams routinely; retire if fabric thins or hardware loosens.
