How to Use / Placement

Height & angle: Aim so the warm zone covers part of the brooder/run, leaving a cool escape area.

Test first: Place a thermometer at chick height. Adjust until you hit age-appropriate temps and a comfortable gradient.

Bulb choice: Use a brooder/infrared heat bulb or ceramic heat emitter with an E26 base within the lamp’s wattage rating. (Skip household halogens.)

Two points of security: Use the clamp and a backup chain/wire on the built-in hanger. Never rely on the clamp alone.

Clearance: Keep bedding, feathers, cords, and plastics well clear of the bulb/guard and reflector. Maintain generous air space.

Solid mount: Attach only to stable, non-flammable surfaces; no flimsy edges.

Dry power: Plug directly into a GFCI-protected outlet. Avoid extension cords when possible.

Daily check: Inspect clamp tightness, chain, cord, and bulb. Replace any worn parts immediately.

Adjust cold: Unplug before repositioning or swapping bulbs.

Monitor birds: Panting or crowding means the setup is too hot or too cold—reposition, raise/lower, or change bulb wattage accordingly.
Care
Wipe the shade and guard with a dry or slightly damp cloth; keep the socket dry. Dust off reflector regularly. Store indoors when not in use.
Good to Know
For everyday brooding, our flock generally does best with Chick Brooder Heat Plates (safer + more natural heat). Lamps are great tools—they’re just not set-and-forget.
